About the Designer

Hi, my name is Sofia Laiti.

I am a jewelry designer from New York.

My interest in creating jewelry began when I attended jewelry classes in New York City in 2008. I quickly caught onto the process of basic jewelry making and soon found myself in varied advanced jewelry making classes such as metalsmithing, enameling, and waxing. I use silver in most of my work but I also work with brass, copper and gold along with natural precious stones. I also take specialized orders from customers.

I have gotten most of my inspiration from nature. I was born and raised in northern Finland "The Land of the Midnight Sun," and the magic of the northern lights, far above the Arctic Circle, made much of an impression on me when I was young.  It was in Finland that I first made my name as a jazz singer and recording artist (www.sofialaiti.com). In 1991 I moved to New York City with a Finnish government artist's grant where I have continued my music career. Manhattan has been my home ever since.

I currently work from my home studio in New York City where I enjoy designing and creating my jewelry. I hope you love my work as much as I love creating it. My contemporary jewelry collections can now be acquired in some specialty boutiques in USA and Europe.
